Donald Archer Gordon, Ph.D. is internationally recognized as one of the top experts in the field of parent/child relationships. For more than three decades his research and work has focused on developing and refining evidence-based family and parenting interventions. Dr. Gordon has been a pioneer in developing effective online parenting programs.
Dr. Gordon is the founder and the Executive Director of the nonprofit Center for Divorce Education (divorce-education.com) and the CEO of Family Works, Inc. (familyworksinc.com).
Most notably during his career, Dr. Gordon has been a prolific publisher of academic articles in his field, and has received several million dollars in grant awards to further his research. He has been a featured speaker at numerous conferences in the US and abroad.
Dr. Gordon’s ground-breaking parent education curricula include CDE's Children in Between and Family Works, Inc.'s Parenting Wisely. These award winning programs were first developed as in-person classes, and evolved into the cutting edge online programs they are today. These programs have received the Positive Parenting Award and Active Parenting Award presented by the Children's Rights Council. They are also listed on the National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices.
Dr. Gordon's professional and academic credentials include professorships at Emory University and Ohio University. He was a US Army Captain and served as Chief of Psychology Services at the US Army Hospital at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Presently, he is Emeritus Professor at Ohio University. Dr. Gordon received his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia, and master's and doctoral degrees from the University of Alabama.
